I’m going to start with one of the things that TSB does best…CAKE POPS! I am a huge Bakerella fan and I love everything that she does. If you don’t know about her yet, please check out her site www.bakerella.com.

The first time I made cake pops, my husband, Martin, was extremely annoyed by all the tapping sounds that radiated from the kitchen. I remember looking up to see him turn the volume up on the television because I was distracting him from watching football. When he finally made his way into the kitchen to see what I was up to I could see dollar signs shining in his eyes.

My first batch of cake pops was for my teacher buddies at school - the perfect guinea pigs to test all of my goodies. These first batches were not so great. They were either way too big (sliding off the popsicle stick), unevenly coated in melts, cracked or just plain ugggglyyyyy (like what the hyenas would say in the Lion King). It took about a month to perfect the art of dipping a perfectly round and smooth cake pop.

For cake pop virgins, I definitely would recommend starting with a cake box mix and store bought icing from the jar. Once you get more advanced then bake your own cake from scratch and make your own buttercream. One cake will yield about 36 pops or so. TSB has made over 100,000 cake pops since we started so don’t feel bad if your first batch doesn’t come out right. You know the saying – practice makes perfect.

These days, we especially enjoy making custom cake pops since they are so fun and unique. They definitely take more time and call for an artistic eye. So be patient and keep at it, you can be a cake pop pro also.

Make a batch today, give it to someone you love and make their life sweeter!
